Azimuth Advisor Calls for UN Humanitarian Intervention in Afghanistan

Azimuth Social Research Advisor Charli Carpenter published an article in Foreign Policy today
calling for a UN-led humanitarian intervention in Afghanistan to protect civilians. Carpenter compared the situation in Afghanistan to Bosnia in the mid-1990s, when an international military operation sought to safeguard the peace and protect civilians after the civil war's aftermath.
US president Joe Biden, Carpenter wrote,"can stick with his policy of disengagement from the internal conflict and stem the bloodshed on his way out while laying the foundation for a Bosnia-style international operation to protect civilians and enforce a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Afghanistan."
